The full description

**Glider** Staff Full Stack Engineer; $150K–$220K base + early equity; New York City (Hybrid)

**About Company** Glider was founded by John Johnson (@johnjohnson, 0x, Matcha) and Brian Huang (@BrianInCrypto, Anchorage, XTX Markets, MIT). Our team is from 0x/Matcha, Coinbase, MetaMask, Cega, Supra, and PoolTogether. We’ve raised $4m led by a16z CSX with participation from Coinbase Ventures, Uniswap Ventures, Generative Ventures, First Commit, Pivot Global, Selini Capital, GSR, and MoonPay Ventures. Glider was incubated by and still works closely with Anagram (anagram.xyz, Lily Liu, Joe Eagan).

**About the Role** You’ll build end-to-end features for Glider.fi with a 70/30 backend/frontend split on the same stack as the rest of the team (Node.js/TypeScript backend, Next.js frontend). This is an application/product engineering role, not a protocol engineering role - Solidity is at most ~5% of the job. The core of the work is backend systems around onchain trading: onchain transactions, indexing, and lending.

**Responsibilities** - Lead the design and development of end-to-end features for the Glider flagship product, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and efficient. - Design, build, and maintain the backend systems powering Glider’s onchain trading and portfolio automation - onchain transactions, indexing, lending. - Tackle unique challenges related to declarative trading and vertical solutions, bringing well-architected approaches to complex problems. - Engage with every layer of the crypto/DeFi stack, from backend infrastructure to on-chain swaps to frontend Web3 UX.

**Required Skills** A. 5+ years of software engineering experience at staff level, full-stack with clear backend depth (role is 70/30 backend/frontend). B. Shipped professionally at a DeFi protocol or trading platform - personal onchain activity alone does not qualify. C. Core strengths in understanding onchain transactions, indexing, and lending; strong grasp of onchain trading (DEXes, AMMs, LPing, perps, etc.). D. Strong expertise in Node.js (TypeScript).

**Bonus Skills** - Solidity - not needed (at most ~5% of the job) but helpful if they know it. - Web3: Familiarity with Viem/Wagmi, permissionless.js/pimlico, SIWE, ZeroDev Kernel Smart Accounts. - Backend: GCP, AlloyDB, Axiom & Sentry; ability to work with Python-based solvers. - Frontend: Next.js, tRPC, Tailwind + Radix UI, Zustand, react-spring, Vitest & Synpress.

**Logistical Info** - Location: New York City, hybrid - 2–3x/week in a brand-new coworking office. Open to relocating a strong candidate within the US. - Compensation: $150K–$220K base + early equity. - Number of openings: 1

**Ideal Background** - Strongest signal — high-caliber Web3/crypto companies: Uniswap, dYdX, Coinbase, Binance, Gemini, Phantom, MetaMask. - Also strong — Web2 teams working close to crypto/onchain rails: Robinhood crypto, Stripe crypto/stablecoin efforts. - Must have shipped professionally in DeFi; DeFi-native engineers who also use these protocols personally are the strongest fit.

**Green Flags** - Deeply onchain: personally uses DeFi protocols (DEXes, LPing, perps) and can articulate why. - Does their homework — speaks to what makes Glider unique. - Ships fast and pragmatically without over-engineering. - Fluent, confident English communication.

**Red Flags** - Protocol-only engineers (smart-contract work as the core strength — knowing Solidity is fine, being only a Solidity engineer is not). - Not deeply onchain technically; can’t go deep on DeFi mechanics. - Experience only in TradFi or mostly at legacy companies. - Mostly managerial experience. - Tendency to over-engineer/over-complicate solutions. - Strong ideological opposition to using AI for coding.

**Interview Process** 1. Screen with Brian or Matt 2. Technical with Dylan (non-coding: project deep dive + product design exercise) 3. Technical with Marcos (45-min real product/engineering problems) 4. Final round with Brian/Matt (John co-founder screen not observed in the current loop.)
