The full description

**Tuyo** Senior Software Engineer, React Native; up to $250K (Miami) / ~$100-150K (Madrid) + 0.3-0.6% equity; Madrid / Miami (On-site)

**About Company** Tuyo is building the future of money: a fully global, non-custodial app that works like a bank account inside your phone, with no bank in the middle. Users stay in control of their money and can spend and move it instantly and for free across borders — without dealing with the usual complexity of crypto or self-custody. Tuyo stays fully self-custodial — users always control their own funds and can withdraw in crypto anytime; it removes the friction, not the control. It's crypto-heavy at its core but feels completely familiar to a mainstream user. Today Tuyo serves thousands of customers across 130+ countries, with a current growth focus on young adults in the US.

Tuyo recently closed a $5M seed round (not yet announced) from leading US and European investors, giving it years of runway. It's a small, highly technical team — currently three full-time engineers — that ships fast and cares deeply about how the product feels to use.

Founders: Jorge Izquierdo (CEO) co-founded Aragon, building core early-Ethereum infrastructure that holds $30B+ in value. Alejandro Perezpayá was the youngest executive at Allfunds, a European bank with $1.5T under management.

**About the Role** One of two founding-level engineering hires (equal priority with the generalist role). This seat owns major parts of Tuyo's React Native app end-to-end — UI, state, API integration, testing, release — working directly with the founders. Tuyo runs a shared-ownership model across the whole stack, so this is not a siloed "mobile-only" job; the mobile focus is the entry point, not a boundary. Product feel and polish matter enormously: banking apps are usually clunky, and Tuyo wants customers to feel delight.

**Responsibilities** - Own major parts of the React Native mobile app, building features end-to-end from UI to state, API integration, testing, and release. - Write clean, reliable JavaScript/TypeScript that scales as the product and team grow. - Work directly with founders, product, and design; move from concept to production without waiting for perfect specs. - Debug tricky issues across iOS, Android, and backend integrations. - Obsess over performance, animations, responsiveness, and the details that make a product feel high quality. - Make pragmatic architecture decisions and help set engineering standards and tooling.

**Required Skills** A. 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production software. B. Strong experience building and shipping production apps in React Native. C. Deep proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.

**Bonus Skills** - Experience building consumer mobile products. - Expo, native modules, app store releases, or mobile CI/CD. - Backend / full-stack experience (Node.js, APIs). - EVM / Solidity or other crypto experience (a plus, not required). - Early-stage startup experience; previously helped define engineering culture or standards.

**Logistical Info** - Location: Madrid (slightly preferred for this role) or Miami. In-office every day, with ~25% of days at the employee's discretion to work elsewhere. Candidates unwilling to relocate to Madrid or Miami won't be considered. - Compensation: Miami up to $250K base; Madrid ~$100K-$150K USD + Equity ~0.3%-0.6% at this stage. - Number of openings: 1 - **Other:** Significant equity ownership; large individual AI-tooling budget; relocation expected for non-local candidates.

**Ideal Background** - Strongest signal - founded or been part of an early-stage startup; arrives with the "operating mindset" installed. These people are usually the most successful at Tuyo. - Crypto-native (e.g. MetaMask) or top consumer-fintech (e.g. Revolut) can fit — but a strong engineer from an unknown company is often a better bet than someone who's gone big-company to big-company. - Senior, product-minded engineers who care what users actually experience, not just whether the code works. - Crypto experience is a plus, not a requirement - genuine interest is enough.

**Green Flags** - Founder mindset: high agency, extreme ownership, low ego; thrives in a scrappy, fast team. - Ships end-to-end and fast; strong product taste and attention to detail. - Kind, easy to work with, high energy, genuinely excited about Tuyo's mission. - High commitment — front-lines work, not a 9-5. - Already leveraging AI heavily to increase output.

**Red Flags** - Career spent going big-company to big-company; corporate baggage; expects a structured 9-5. - Only comfortable in a narrow, siloed role rather than owning features end-to-end. - Low energy or weak values/culture fit. - Unwilling to relocate or be in-office in Madrid/Miami.

**Interview Process** 1. First interview - either with Jorge (CEO) or an initial technical interview with the Head of Engineering. 2. Call with the founders. 3. Half-day to full-day on-site with the team before an offer.
