The full description

**Circle** Senior Software Engineer, Frontend; $152.5K–$205K + equity; United States (Remote)

**About the Role** Circle is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Frontend to build world-class Web3 consumer applications, web SDKs, and developer tools that make it easier for developers to integrate with Circle's products. You'll also build internal tools that let Customer Success teams resolve customer needs efficiently. You'll contribute to Circle's broader frontend ecosystem — code reviews, engineering standards, quality bar — and partner closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to translate requirements into intuitive, reliable, and scalable experiences for developers and end users.

**Responsibilities** - Build and maintain responsive Web3 applications using modern frontend technologies. - Develop web SDKs and tools that simplify integration with Circle products and services. - Design reusable, accessible, and scalable frontend components for shared use across teams. - Partner with Product and Design to translate user needs into intuitive, high-quality features. - Build internal tools that help Customer Success teams resolve customer needs efficiently. - Participate in code and design reviews to improve quality, consistency, and maintainability. - Use automated testing, continuous delivery practices, and AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering velocity.

**Required Skills** A. 4+ years of experience building user interfaces for complex web applications. B. Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and JavaScript. C. Experience building responsive, component-based applications with React. D. Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Codex, Cursor, or similar platforms. E. Experience writing well-tested, maintainable code and contributing to strong coding standards. F. Strong product judgment and the ability to identify opportunities to improve usability and user experience.

**Bonus Skills** - Experience with Node.js, developer platforms, or SDKs. - Prior work on Web3 products, wallets, DeFi dashboards, or on-chain data explorers. - Blockchain / crypto product experience.

**Logistical Info** - Location: United States, remote. San Francisco listed on the posting but not required. - Compensation: $152,500 – $205,000 base + equity. - **Other:** Full benefits and equity refresh; US work authorization required by default (consistent with Circle's other US Eng roles).

**Ideal Background** - Strongest signal — Web3 / crypto product frontends: Coinbase, OpenSea, Uniswap Labs, Phantom, MetaMask, Robinhood crypto, Base tooling. - Also strong — hybrid fintech consumer surfaces: Stripe, Block/Cash App, Plaid, Adyen, Robinhood, SoFi. - Also strong — developer-tools frontends (SDK/API/console UX): Vercel, Stripe developer platform, Twilio, Sentry, Datadog, Auth0. - Consumer-scale frontend at big tech is acceptable if paired with clear evidence of Web3/crypto product buy-in. - Recently reopened after being closed; earlier round of screening rejected candidates whose frontend depth was strong but who had thin or absent Web3 exposure — don't send frontend generalists without any crypto product signal.

**Green Flags** - Shipped Web3 consumer surfaces or SDKs at scale (wallets, DeFi dashboards, on-chain explorers, dev consoles). - Deep React + TypeScript with a component-library / design-system ownership story. - Track record of building accessible, high-performance, well-tested UIs (Core Web Vitals, a11y, unit + integration test coverage). - Real usage of AI-assisted dev tools (Claude Code / Cursor / Codex) in production workflows, not just hobby. - Strong product judgment — has pushed back on PMs, shaped UX, cut scope.

**Red Flags** - Generic React résumé with no crypto/Web3 product exposure — this role explicitly wants Web3. - Frontend-only + no backend context — the role touches SDKs and integration surfaces; someone allergic to backend collaboration will struggle. - Jumpy tenure pattern (multiple sub-1-year stints) — Circle's US Eng bar filters these. - Prior application or interview at Circle within the last 12 months (recurring rejection reason across US Eng roles). - No AI-tool usage in workflow — the JD explicitly names Claude / Codex / Cursor.

**Interview Process** 1. CodeSignal assessment. 2. Recruiter screen. 3. Hiring manager screen. 4. Technical interview: frontend implementation + component design. 5. System design / cross-functional panel. 6. Leadership interview.
