**About the Role** Circle is hiring Senior Software Engineers across multiple teams building blockchain and payment infrastructure, including Liquidity, Developer Platform, Payments, Core Protocols, and Stablecoin Operations.
In this role, you'll build and own scalable microservices and secure APIs that move value across blockchain and banking rails. You'll partner with Product and Engineering to design, test, document, and improve systems, with a strong emphasis on blockchain and crypto domain knowledge or demonstrated personal engagement.
You'll also troubleshoot production issues, integrate platform services with banks and fintechs, and build infrastructure spanning databases, messaging systems, and payment APIs.
**Responsibilities** - Deliver scalable microservices and secure APIs for moving value across payment rails - Improve system reliability, performance, and quality across blockchain infrastructure - Shape product features with cross-functional partners through design, testing, and documentation - Resolve production issues quickly to restore stable system operation - Simplify complex payment integrations for developers, banks, and fintech partners - Build robust infrastructure across databases, messaging systems, and APIs
**Required Skills** - Build backend systems with 6+ years in object-oriented development; Java expertise is required - Lead small teams on architecture and system design decisions - Strong, required experience working with payment systems such as credit cards and bank transfers - Design and develop RESTful APIs for reliable service integrations - Use cloud platforms and SQL databases, including schema design - Bring Web3 or crypto interest and strong domain buy-in - Strong coding standards and code quality, with proven ability to deliver high test coverage and pass coding assessments - Completion of CodeSignal or equivalent coding assessment is mandatory before interview scheduling
**Logistical Info** - **Location: **Fully remote, US-based; strong preference for significant overlap with Pacific Time (PT)/West Coast teams. Candidates outside West Coast with compensation concerns may be deprioritized. - **Compensation:** $147,500 - $195,000 base (flexible) + equity; equity and total compensation packages are highly flexible for the right talent. - **Number of openings: **Multiple engineers across several teams - **Other:** Flat, collaborative organization with high feedback velocity; clear expectation of direct and open communication. Hiring for across their core teams, including CPM, liquidity, on-chain business logic, and developer tooling/platform groups.
