The full description

We are looking for a Senior Robotics Planning Engineer with 5+ years of experience to develop the high-level autonomy systems that coordinate fleets of autonomous haul trucks in mining environments. You'll join Pronto AI (now part of Atoms), a global leader in commercializing autonomous vehicle technology with production-deployed Autonomous Haulage Systems operating across mines in the US, Scotland, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil. This is a critical role — you'll be responsible for ensuring trucks navigate smoothly without unnecessary stops, designing path planning and multi-vehicle coordination systems that directly impact site productivity and safety. You'll be one of the early members of a growing planning team, with the opportunity to touch motion planning, coordination planning, and fleet planning from the ground up. If you love robotics and want outsized impact on real, deployed autonomous systems rather than simulations, this is the role for you.

What will you be doing?

- Developing trajectory planning and path planning systems for 200+ ton autonomous haul trucks, ensuring smooth navigation and minimizing unnecessary stops caused by unplanned obstacles

- Designing intersection management systems that compute optimal truck sequences to minimize total wait time across multi-vehicle operations

- Building coordination planning systems to simultaneously manage the motion of multiple vehicles with intersecting trajectories, preventing deadlocks and collisions

- Creating fleet planning algorithms that dynamically translate site-wide state (loading/dumping locations) into actively managed assignments for each truck

- Collaborating with controls and systems engineers to validate planning concepts during live deployments, with some schedule flexibility required during testing phases
