What you would be doing
- Independently manage all phases of defense from case inception through resolution, including litigation strategy, pleadings, motion practice, discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Draft and respond to written discovery, conduct legal research, prepare pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda, and develop persuasive written and oral advocacy.
- Take and defend depositions, represent clients in court proceedings, and assist with all aspects of trial preparation, including motions in limine, trial briefs, jury instructions, verdict forms, and other trial-related filings.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, experts, and the court while collaborating with attorneys and staff to deliver exceptional legal representation.

We are looking for a Senior Litigation Defense Attorney with 5+ years of civil litigation experience to independently manage defense cases from inception through resolution at a top-tier national law firm. You'll represent businesses, insurance carriers, and individuals in complex defense and insurance coverage matters while working alongside an accomplished team of litigators.
What will you be doing?
- Independently managing all phases of defense litigation including strategy, pleadings, motion practice, discovery, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
- Drafting and arguing motions, preparing legal memoranda, and developing persuasive written and oral advocacy
- Taking and defending depositions and representing clients in court proceedings
- Maintaining proactive communication with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, experts, and the court
- Preparing cases for trial including motions in limine, trial briefs, jury instructions, and verdict forms
Key Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
- 5+ years of civil litigation defense experience
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage an active litigation caseload with multiple files and competing deadlines
- Extensive experience with written discovery, motion practice, depositions, and mediations
- Strong legal research, analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills
