The full description

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel with 5+ years of experience to serve as a strategic legal partner to our business development and engineering teams as we pivot to becoming the leading AR waveguide supplier for major tier-1 OEMs. This is a backfill on our commercial and product legal team, and you'll play a critical role in structuring deals, advising on product development, and navigating the legal complexities of cutting-edge hardware technology.

What will you be doing?

- Draft, negotiate, and close commercial agreements tied to strategic partnerships with major tech companies (e.g., Google, Snap)

- Provide hands-on product counseling to engineering teams throughout the hardware product development lifecycle

- Identify legal risks early in the product development process and propose practical mitigation strategies

- Help structure deals and product decisions for Magic Leap's waveguide and optics component business

- Collaborate cross-functionally with biz dev, engineering, and legal teams while maintaining and improving contract templates, playbooks, and scalable processes

Key Requirements

- 5+ years of commercial and product legal experience at a hardware-centric company (semiconductors, optics/photonics, consumer electronics, robotics, or AR/VR)

- J.D. or foreign equivalent with active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

- Demonstrated experience drafting, negotiating, and closing complex technology transactions

- In-house experience working directly with engineering and business development teams on product development
