Senior Backend Software Engineer - GenAI

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer with 6-8 years of experience to lead the buildout of our GenAI platform, Saga. Demand for our AI-enabled logistics product has skyrocketed beyond expectations, and we need someone who can own the architecture of production GenAI systems from scratch — not maintain existing ones.

What will you be doing?

- Leading the GenAI engineering effort for Saga, our AI offering built on top of TyrOS (military logistics C2 platform)

- Designing and shipping production RAG architectures, LLM integrations, agentic workflows, and retrieval pipelines from the ground up

- Owning backend system architecture — APIs, async workflows, data pipelines, observability, and reliability patterns

- Making architectural tradeoffs in ambiguous product environments with minimal direction

- Supporting deployed engineers remotely via on-call rotation

Key Requirements

- 6-8 years of software engineering experience with significant time building production GenAI/LLM systems (RAG, agents, tool use, evals, retrieval pipelines) — not just prototypes or demos

- Strong backend/distributed systems depth — must be able to design and ship services, APIs, queues, storage, and data pipelines, not just prompt logic

- Senior-level ownership and autonomy — can take a vague problem, define the system, ship it, and iterate without heavy direction

- Must pass a live coding interview without AI assistance (demonstrating baseline engineering fundamentals)

- US citizen or Green Card holder — no visa sponsorship available (defense contractor requirement)
