What you would be doing
- Drafting, arguing, and responding to dispositive and non-dispositive motions
- Taking and defending depositions
- Managing all aspects of discovery, including document production, e-discovery, and discovery disputes
- Preparing witnesses for depositions, hearings, trials, and arbitrations
- Participating in trials, evidentiary hearings, and arbitrations
- Negotiating settlements and developing practical, business-oriented resolutions for clients
- Handling matters involving commercial landlord-tenant disputes, lease interpretation and enforcement, contract disputes, property ownership and title issues, construction-related disputes, and other complex real estate litigation matters

We are looking for a Real Estate Litigation Associate with 5+ years of experience to join the nation's #1 real estate law firm during an exciting period of growth. You'll handle complex real estate litigation matters representing commercial landlords, owners, and developers in New York state and federal courts, with the opportunity to build your book of business and grow into a long-term career at a firm where the average attorney tenure is 11 years.
What will you be doing?
- Handling all phases of complex real estate litigation including motions, depositions, discovery, and trials
- Representing commercial landlords and owners in landlord-tenant disputes, lease enforcement, contract disputes, and construction-related matters
- Negotiating settlements and developing business-oriented resolutions for clients
- Managing cases independently while collaborating within the litigation subgroup
- Building and developing client relationships with origination credit for business you bring to the firm
Key Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of real estate litigation experience (no strong 4s — firm already has associates at that level)
- Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing
- Demonstrated career stability and commitment — job hoppers (moves every 2 years) are a hard no unless clearly explained (e.g., merger, partner departure)
- Strong knowledge of New York civil practice and procedure with hands-on trial/hearing experience
- Two unredacted writing samples required for consideration
