The full description
We are looking for a Senior Real Estate Transactional Attorney with 7-10+ years of experience to lead sophisticated joint venture, acquisition, development, and financing transactions at a respected mid-size California firm. This is an opportunity for a high-performing attorney who feels stagnant at a big firm and is ready for real deal ownership, direct client access, and a clear path toward partnership — without the 2,000+ hour grind.
What will you be doing?
- Leading drafting and negotiation of complex joint venture and operating agreements — the firm's primary growth area over the next 6-12 months
- Running real estate transactions end-to-end (acquisitions, development, financing) with direct client and counterparty engagement
- Taking ownership of deals rather than supporting senior attorneys on discrete pieces
- Meeting one-on-one with partners to develop your business development plan and align with the firm's practice
- Working on sophisticated deals that compete with BigLaw in complexity, but at 1,600 billable hours annually
Key Requirements
- 7-10+ years of transactional real estate experience at an AmLaw 200 firm or well-regarded California RE boutique (no solo practitioners or very small firms)
- Active California State Bar license (non-negotiable)
- Demonstrated experience leading or co-leading complex RE deals with direct client contact and counterparty negotiation
- Experience drafting and negotiating joint venture and operating agreements
- Bay Area-based with ability to be in the SF Financial District office on Wednesdays (required) plus flexible additional days
