The full description
**Fun.xyz** Protocol Engineer (Singapore); SGD 120K–300K across L1–L4 + equity; Singapore (Hybrid)
**About the Role** A newly opened, Singapore-based Protocol Engineer seat — separate from the existing NYC Protocol Engineer req already in Squad's pipeline. Owns smart contract design, deployment, and security across the blockchain platforms Fun's payment infrastructure touches.
**Responsibilities** - Design and deploy secure smart contracts across multiple blockchain platforms. - Partner with the broader engineering team on blockchain solution architecture. - Write efficient, well-tested code and participate in security audits. - Research new blockchain technologies and DeFi primitives to inform the roadmap. - Own incident response for on-chain issues.
**Required Skills** A. Production smart contract development experience on major blockchains. B. Proficiency in Solidity, Rust, or Move. C. Deep understanding of blockchain architecture, consensus mechanisms, and cryptographic principles. D. Strong security mindset — can reason about smart contract vulnerabilities and attack surfaces.
**Bonus Skills** - Multi-ecosystem blockchain experience. - Prior crypto startup or Web3 infrastructure background. - Cross-chain bridge or oracle protocol experience. - High-volume DeFi/DEX infrastructure experience. - Open source blockchain contributions.
**Logistical Info** - Location: Singapore; in-person Mon–Thu, optional WFH Friday. - Compensation: SGD 120K–300K across L1–L4, with equity scaled by level. - **Other:** Equity scaled by level; performance incentives; comprehensive benefits. Citizens/green card preferred; open to candidates requiring a visa transfer in Singapore.
**Ideal Background** - Protocol/smart contract engineers from crypto-native companies or top Web3 infra teams, comparable bar to the existing NYC Protocol Engineer req (bar/seniority confirmed identical, Sept 22 call). - Client wants senior/staff-level protocol engineers — they passed a more junior profile as too junior for current team needs (10/6). - Newly opened, separate SG req — client only added Squad to it in mid-September; no pipeline yet. - Headcount note (recruiter-only, Sept 22 call): unlike most of the other new Fun.xyz roles (single hire each), Protocol Engineer is an ongoing/rolling req — engineering is "a revolving door" at Fun, same open-ended pattern as Backend Engineer and Product Engineer.
**Green Flags** - Shipped smart contracts in production handling real value, not just testnet/hackathon work. - Comfortable working across timezones with a primarily NYC-based team.
**Red Flags** - No production (mainnet) smart contract experience. - Cannot support the Singapore in-person hybrid schedule.
