The full description

**GC AI** Member of Technical Staff, Growth Engineering; $230K–$300K + equity; US/Canada (Remote)

**About Company** GC AI is the fastest-growing legal AI platform for in-house legal teams, helping lawyers draft, review, and analyze legal documents in seconds with accuracy built for real legal work. More than 1,800 companies use GC AI, including 150+ public companies and 25+ unicorns — brands like News Corp, Miro, Bass Pro Shops, Snyk, Skims, Liquid Death, Vercel, Zscaler, and TIME. The product carries an NPS of 70-75 and recently won a #1 SaaS customer satisfaction award; sales is ahead of plan and the company is on track for a Series C.

GC AI raised a $60M Series B in November 2025 at a $555M valuation, led by Scale Venture Partners and Northzone, with Guillermo Rauch (CEO of Vercel) among the strategic investors. Co-founder and CEO Cecilia Ziniti is a 20-year legal veteran who was a founding lawyer at Amazon Alexa, then Cruise, then Replit — where she met co-founder and CTO Bardia Pourvakil and became focused on AI. About 20% of the company are lawyers, forming an R&D function that bakes legal expertise directly into the product (including attorneys who submit pull requests reviewed and shipped under engineering supervision).

The engineering team is under 20 people and doubling this year. Culture is high-performance and AI-native (the team builds with tools like Claude Code), with strong pay and equity for people who perform. The team is distributed across the US and Canada, intentionally coming together for 3-4 engineering offsites plus a company offsite each year; those within ~50 miles of the San Mateo, CA or Provo, UT hubs work in-office Tuesday-Thursday.

**About the Role** This is an urgent 1-2 person addition to GC AI's growth engineering team. This is a classic growth engineering seat: strong full-stack or front-end engineering plus real experimentation chops, focused on GC AI's own sign-up, onboarding, and conversion funnels for in-house legal buyers ranging from late-stage tech companies to large enterprises.

**Responsibilities** - Ship user-facing growth features across sign-up, onboarding, and checkout/conversion funnels. - Run structured A/B tests and experimentation programs end to end. - Build systems to engage prospective users across channels like Reddit, LinkedIn, and legal forums. - Build analytics dashboards tracking user behavior and growth metrics. - Develop automation tooling for personalized outreach at scale. - Implement tracking/attribution systems and internal tools supporting sales and marketing operations.

**Required Skills** A. Strong full-stack or front-end engineering background at a prosumer or consumer product company (consumer experience is explicitly fine), including at least one seat as a core team member at an early-stage company. Contractor tenure at big companies does not count. B. Named experiments in the work history: the hypothesis, the variant shipped, the metric moved. A/B testing listed in a skills section with no experiments described in the roles is an automatic no. C. Comfortable shipping user-facing features at meaningful scale (think large enterprise user bases). D. Strong SQL and data analysis skills.

**Bonus Skills** - B2B SaaS growth engineering experience. - Familiarity with HubSpot, Customer.io, or Klaviyo. - LLM or AI platform experience. - Side projects or independent shipping (e.g., an indie game developer building on the side) — a strong signal of genuine engineering passion. - SEO implementation knowledge.

**Logistical Info** - Location: Distributed across the US and Canada; up to 10% travel expected for coworking/offsites at the San Francisco Bay Area and Provo, UT hub cities. - Compensation: $230K–$300K + equity. - Number of openings: 1-2 (urgent). - **Other:** H-1B transfers supported; no new visa sponsorship.

**Ideal Background** - Pedigree is a filter, not a preference. The current growth engineer came from Apollo, with Nextdoor and eBay before that. HeyGen, Zoox, Udacity, Ramp, Notion, Stripe, Meta, and Amazon were also well received. Intuit, Capital One and Honor have all been screened out on pedigree alone. - Side projects and independent shipping (e.g., indie game dev) are read as a strong positive signal, separate from professional experience. - A short stint here or there isn't disqualifying if balanced by longer tenures; a repeated pattern of short stints is a red flag. - Urgency: time-sensitive — the growth team is overextended and a recent offer acceptance was rescinded; move quickly.

**Green Flags** - Real growth work in at least one prior role (not just adjacent front-end/product work), even if the rest of the résumé isn't obviously "growth." - Candidates who proactively express interest in growth work specifically (vs. being open to anything).

**Red Flags** - Pure front-end or product-engineering background with no hands-on experimentation/A-B testing experience. - A repeated pattern of short (under ~1 year) stints. - A/B testing or experimentation listed only as a skill/keyword, without concrete described experiments in actual work history - Pure experimentation/data-science or funnel-measurement backgrounds without shipped product-led growth work (user-facing feature iteration)
