The full description

**Fun.xyz** Head of Compliance; $300K–$360K + equity; NYC (Hybrid)

**About the Role** Fun's first dedicated compliance hire, reporting to the General Counsel. Starts by building the sanctions/crypto-operations compliance program from scratch and is expected to expand into fiat payment-rail compliance as the company grows. This is currently a lower-priority, "bubbling" need — a junior general counsel hire is the more immediate legal priority.

**Responsibilities** - Design and implement the company's sanctions screening program: standards, escalation procedures, recordkeeping, and reporting. - Build compliance policies and risk assessments tailored to Fun's non-custodial product architecture. - Select and manage blockchain analytics/screening vendors. - Embed compliance controls directly into the product development process. - Direct external compliance advisors and specialists as needed.

**Required Skills** A. 8+ years of compliance experience, including significant time at a crypto/DeFi company or an institution with a digital-assets program. B. Working command of OFAC sanctions requirements as applied to blockchain activity. C. Direct experience with non-custodial architectures and self-custody product models. D. Blockchain analytics proficiency — can read and analyze on-chain transactions.

**Bonus Skills** - Experience standing up a compliance program from zero at an early-stage company. - Money transmission, MSB registration, or state licensing background. - Regulatory, enforcement, or policy experience. - Familiarity with payment card schemes and fiat rail compliance.

**Logistical Info** - Location: Midtown NYC HQ; in-person Mon–Thu, optional WFH Friday. - Compensation: $300K–$360K + equity. - **Other:** Equity + performance incentives; comprehensive benefits.

**Ideal Background** - Compliance leads from crypto/DeFi companies who've built (not just run) a sanctions/screening program from the ground up. - Priority note (recruiter-only, Sept 18 call): explicitly one of the client's lower-priority open roles right now ("bubbling," not urgent) — pipeline steadily, don't over-invest before Marketing/Design/Counsel are further along. - Process note (recruiter-only, Sept 22 call): interview process is the same as Senior Counsel.

**Green Flags** - Has built compliance infrastructure as a first/founding compliance hire before, not just operated within an existing program. - Strong written policy/process skills.

**Red Flags** - Only large-institution experience with no hands-on, from-scratch program-building background. - No direct non-custodial/self-custody product experience.

**Interview Process** 1. Recruiter screen with Caroline Kerr. 2. Hiring manager screen. 3. Take-home exercise. 4. Panel review of the take-home (on-site). 5. Cross-functional culture screen (on-site). 6. Founder chat, if the founder is available.
