**About Company** PIQ Energy is helping leading developers connect to the grid faster by automating the technical power system analysis required to safely develop and deploy new assets. Piq Energy’s mission is to accelerate the energy transition by automating power grid simulation and analysis for project developers and utilities.

**About the Role** PIQ Energy is seeking an innovative Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our team. You will develop, deploy, and maintain user-facing applications, back-end APIs, databases, and cloud deployment infrastructure. As part of our dynamic startup environment, you will have opportunities to own features and shape our user experience and technical architecture. You'll collaborate within our team of software engineers, power systems experts, data scientists, and designers to deliver a powerful and performant SaaS platform. This is a critical early hire with a significant amount of responsibility and corresponding competitive (location-adjusted) salary and equity compensation. Generalist full-stack responsibilities, including data infrastructure, data pipelines, AI agent features; slot into ongoing priorities like data infra (current), pipelines (near-term), AI features (end of Q1); own larger feature sets within 3 months, organize epics/sub-stories, lead fixes; engineering-led culture with hands-on product vision from founders.

**Responsibilities** - Develop and maintain end-to-end features across interactive frontends, backend APIs, data pipelines, and AI agents - Lead workstreams end-to-end, including gathering product requirements, proposing solution architectures, developing an implementation plan, managing technical dependencies, and coordinating rollout plans - Collaborate directly with users and customer-facing teammates to gather feedback and understand their needs, translating insights into design solutions - Build and maintain data-rich, interactive frontend applications - Scale our backend APIs, systems, and data pipelines to support more use cases, while ensuring maintainability and paying down technical debt - Uphold the technical bar as you build, ensuring our platform is performant, scalable, and secure - Provide hands-on mentorship and feedback for teammates - Write clean, maintainable code following best practices - Participate in and lead design discussions, code reviews, and technical planning meetings - Contribute to improving software engineering practices, with a bias toward action, ensuring fast iterations and delivery of impactful solutions

**Required Skills** A. 4+ years of software engineering industry experience delivering high-quality software for enterprise customers B. Strong proficiency with Python C. Experience with TypeScript (strong fundamentals) D. Experience with SQL databases

**Bonus Skills** - Data visualization - Svelte/GraphQL, LLM agents, Postgres, workflow orchestration - GIS/mapping (e.g., vector tiles, Mapbox APIs) - Ability to pick up Svelte quickly

**Ideal Background** - Generalists from competitive startups/top companies (e.g., Palantir, Affirm mafia, C3.ai) blending speed/ownership/trade-offs with reliable infra for critical industries; - Stanford/top schools; rapid career progression.

**Logistical Info** - **Location: **San Francisco preferred (remote hybrid); high bar talent for non-SF remote; SF team works in-person in our coworking space 2-3 days per week. Open to US candidates - **Compensation: **$150-210k base + equity (flexible for exceptional fits)

**Red Flags** - Extremely junior with high salary expectations (e.g., 1 year experience expecting $250k) - Less than 2-3 years post-MS/degree without prior SWE experience - Low-velocity career progression - Remote candidates will face a higher bar

**Interview Process** 1. Recruiter pre-screening 2. Phone screening with founding engineer (Robert) 3. Technical screening: system design whiteboarding with senior engineer, take-home + review 4. Founder call interview
