The full description

We are looking for a Founding MEP Software Engineer with 2-10 years of experience to join ArchiLabs as the fourth full-time team member and own the MEP vertical for our AI-native CAD platform. You'll bring deep MEP domain expertise (especially HVAC) combined with strong software engineering skills to help us build the future of how buildings are designed. This is a high-leverage role where you'll define product direction for MEP workflows, translate domain knowledge into acceptance criteria for AI agents, and QA/QC the outputs. We want someone who thinks like a co-founder — bringing contrarian opinions, taking initiative, and helping us discover blind spots in our MEP product strategy.

What will you be doing?

- Defining and building MEP content libraries (HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, pipes) on top of our code-first CAD engine, translating domain expertise into acceptance criteria for AI-generated work

- Owning MEP product thinking — identifying what good MEP tooling should look like, discovering blind spots, and shaping the roadmap for our MEP vertical

- QA/QC-ing AI-generated MEP designs and outputs, ensuring they meet engineering standards and real-world requirements

- Working directly with MEP design partner firms (a few hours per week) to understand their workflows, bootstrap initial content libraries, and help onboard early customers

- Writing software (Python, TypeScript/React) to build platform features and content packs, leveraging AI coding tools to ship quickly
