Founding Designer

We are looking for a Founding Designer with 3+ years of experience to own the entire UX and visual design surface of an AI-native consumer finance product backed by Sequoia and Jump Trading. You'll join a team of 6 in Palo Alto building the system that turns natural language intent into settled financial action — say what you believe about the market and Catalyst researches, constructs, and executes the trade for you. This is a high-ownership role where you'll shape how people interact with financial agents, designing discovery-driven experiences that go far beyond putting a chat box inside a brokerage app. We want someone who is deeply user-focused, self-motivated, and excited to define the design vision from the ground up.

What will you be doing?

- Conducting user interviews and talking directly with traders to deeply understand their needs, then translating those insights into intuitive, consumer-grade interfaces for complex financial workflows

- Designing new interaction patterns for AI-native financial products — think passive discovery feeds (inspired by social apps like Instagram and Snapchat) rather than traditional chat-based interfaces

- Taking complex financial concepts, data, and agent behavior and making them feel simple and understandable at a glance — similar to how Robinhood elevated the trading experience

- Working independently alongside founders and engineers to identify what needs improvement, redesign it, and ship it quickly

- Developing and evolving Catalyst's design system, visual language, and overall product experience end-to-end
