The full description
We are looking for an Engineering Manager with 5+ years of experience to serve as a hands-on technical leader and right-hand to the CTO at TrashLab, the AI-native operating system for waste haulers. You'll manage a distributed team while staying deeply in the code — owning critical projects around security, compliance, infrastructure cost management, and platform architecture. This is ideal for someone who has led a small team (sub-10) at a startup or growth-stage company and is energized by vertical SaaS, complex business workflows, and building for blue-collar industries. You should be equally comfortable coaching engineers and shipping production code yourself.
What will you be doing?
- Managing a distributed engineering team (US + LatAm/Europe) and owning all people management responsibilities as a direct backup to the CTO
- Leading SOC2 certification and improving the company's overall security posture and development best practices
- Driving architecture for multi-tenant customization — enabling per-customer feature configurations for large enterprise clients
- Monitoring and managing infrastructure costs, token spending, and production metrics (PRs shipped, releases, incidents)
- Splitting time ~50/50 between hands-on technical work and people management, shipping code alongside your team
