The full description
We are looking for a Criminal Inadmissibility Practice Lead Lawyer with 2+ years of experience to lead and scale one of the fastest-growing practice areas at a pioneering AI-native Canadian immigration law firm. This is a unique opportunity to combine legal expertise with technology and operational leadership — with a clear path toward General Manager responsibility
What will you be doing?
- Leading the Crim/Inadmissibility department and managing a team of ~3 case managers, including setting expectations, coaching, and driving performance
- Owning operational metrics via the firm's internal Command Center (file throughput, CSAT scores, response times, stuck files) and running weekly reviews
- Partnering with the internal CTO and engineering team to prototype and build AI-powered tools that make the practice more efficient and scalable
- Providing senior legal oversight on complex criminal inadmissibility matters (TRPs, Criminal Rehabilitation applications, admissibility issues)
- Driving the practice from operational stabilization to growth — expanding capacity, improving client experience, and increasing profitability
Key Requirements
- Licensed lawyer in good standing with a Canadian law society, eligible to practise in Canada
- Immigration law experience, ideally with some exposure to criminal inadmissibility cases (TRPs, Criminal Rehabilitation, etc.)
- Demonstrated leadership maturity — ability to manage a team, give direct feedback, and operate with an ownership mindset
- AI-native mindset — actively uses tools like Claude/ChatGPT and is excited about applying AI to legal workflows (bonus: can vibe-code prototypes)
- Operationally and commercially minded — comfortable with metrics, dashboards, and thinking about how a legal practice makes money
How hiring runs
- 1Phone Screen with Cassie (30 min)
- 2Legal Deep Dive with a CanadaVisa Lawyer
- 3Case Study / 30-60-90 Day Plan (Take-Home Exercise)
