What you would be doing
- Draft, negotiate, and close construction contracts, design agreements (architect, engineer, consultant), and access/license agreements for institutional owner and developer clients
- Take ownership of a high-volume transactional workbook with turnaround measured in days, not weeks
- Work closely with a 7-person construction practice group, including direct mentorship from a 50+ year practitioner who co-chairs the group
- Handle RPAPL 881 special proceedings — petitioning courts to compel neighboring property owners to grant access for construction or demolition projects
- Manage complex negotiations with adverse counsel on access agreements where neighbors attempt to extract excessive license fees and conditions from developers
- Participate in weekly Wednesday group meetings reviewing active matters and legal issues, and contribute to the firm's marketing and business development efforts over time

What we're looking for:
We need a senior associate with 6–10 years of transactional construction law experience who has worked on design agreements, construction contracts, and access/license agreements on behalf of owners and developers. You should be comfortable operating independently on complex matters with minimal supervision and have a track record of managing files from intake through close with fast turnaround times. Bonus points if you have experience with RPAPL 881 special proceedings (NY access agreement disputes).
